October break and school life
There are no classes this week, this is my first break here. I was planning on traveling with my friends to one of the beaches, Jaco, but the whole coast flooded two days before we planned to leave so the school did not let us go to any of the beaches in the country. They gave us some last-minute alternative options, but Idecided not to go. The campus is very quiet right now since around fifty people still left yesterday. I was looking forward to leaving the school for a few days, so I'm a bit disappointed, but at least I have some time to recharge.
We got back our mid-term grades with some short descriptions about our participation, a few days ago. I was not quite happy about the grades and feedback that I got. I know I was not performing perfectly since it's pretty hard to catch up with all the work we get. However, now I'm going to try to learn from my mistakes and be more focused when school starts. I'm excited about how it's gonna go. We are going to have finals in a few weeks, which I'm a bit scared about, but I will try to manage my time as well as I can, so I can get better grades at the end of the semester.
UWC schools are famous for their CAS (extracurricular) activities. At the beginning of the year, students could send in proposals about CASes they want to lead. Many of them still haven't got approved and the ones which got, often have limited spaces. I'm a bit disappointed about that because I really want to do more extracurricular activities here, but right now I have limited options. At the moment, I am a part of the Write for Rights, Eco-bricks, and CAS Helpers CAS. I also proposed a Debating CAS with a friend which is not approved yet. The school's administration is not the best right now, since there is quite a shortage of staff. This doesn't have a great effect on the school.
